The Raid Redemption (2011, Gareth Evans)

Original Title (Serbuan maut)

Rama (Iko Uwais) is part of a SWAT team instructed to assault a misteryous building located somewhere in Jakarta and bring in its landlord. Like some other rookies, he is unaware of what and whom they are dealing with: Tama Ryiadi (Ray Sahetapy), a ruthless and dangerous criminal who owns the area and buys senior figures of the police department. Things went as planned until one of the building tenants saw the cops and alerted Tama himself. Tama’s friends turned up and the special force team got trapped inside the building. There is only way to get out: kill.

Rama (Iko Uwais) and Andi (Donny Alamsyah) fight Mad Dog (Yayan Ruina)
People usually do not expect to see an action movie with a good plot and the ending was a bit lame for me. Therefore, the credits are elsewhere. This is action from start to finish and the result is spectacular. The gunshot exchange added to the breathtaking fight scenes (the guys use a kind a martial arts called Silat) left me speechless, in a manner of speaking.

The whole cast deserves credits for their hard work with a special mention to Yayan Ruhian aka Mad Dog.
